How to Reset With A Seasonal Detox

For many of us, spring is a representation of renewals and rebirth. Slowly shades of green emerge, followed by sleepily blooming flowers. We open windows and doors; before you know it, we’re decluttering, and a spring clean-up ensues. But what about our bodies?

The start of a new season is an excellent time to revamp and revitalize our bodies. Taking stock of your wellness goals and reflecting on how to feel better, stronger, and healthier is the first step in a seasonal reset. Here are a few good reasons to give your body a detox.

Reduce Toxins

Our bodies are constantly detoxifying themselves, but the various toxins in our water, food, air, and environment can add too heavy a load. Food-based cleanses can support our kidneys, liver, and digestive functions.

Reduce Inflammation

Chronic inflammation affects nearly 43 million people worldwide. It’s been linked to autoimmune disease, heart disease, and cancer. Toxins wreak havoc on our entire system and often contribute to inflammation. Detoxing seasonally helps us remove unnecessary build-up in our homes and bodies.

Immunity Boost

A food-based cleanse is an excellent choice for a detox because it both cleanses and replenishes. A food-based cleanse includes fruits, veggies, seeds, and nuts (organic in as many instances as you can muster). The nutrients in these foods help boost our immune system, supporting and protecting our major line of defense. A food-based cleanse can even help with many allergies.

Kickoff Weight Loss

Cleansing and detoxing our body means providing plenty of vital nutrients, fiber, hydration, healthy fats, and beneficial bacteria. One part of a food-based cleanse is eliminating processed and junk foods. That alone will minimize bloating, reduce cravings, and fuel the body with everything needed for weight loss.

Give Your Skin A Glow-Up

Many foods and drinks are a powerhouse for our skin. Leafy greens, seasonal fruits, and veggies flood our bodies with antioxidants, slow aging, and hydrate us from the inside out. When our body spends less time digesting junk food, more energy goes into other aspects of our health and wellness, including our skin.

Elevate Your Mood

Food affects our mood in a few ways. Not only does it trigger pleasure hormones, but a diet that includes essential nutrients and healthy fats and is high in fiber can balance our blood sugar, boost serotonin, and protect us from depressive chemicals. Not to mention, it’s easier to be happy with ourselves when we make good choices than when we don’t.

Ease Emotional Stress

Our feelings can get stored in our bodies just as much as physical toxins can. Something that weighs many of us down is holding on to toxic emotions. Healthy food can be incredibly powerful for healing our body, mind, and spirit. We have to start healing somewhere; why not start with food? When our body has all the vitamins and nutrients it needs, it can respond much differently to many things, including emotions, stress, and anxiety.

Detoxing Methods

A food-based detox diet isn’t the only method you can use to reset your body seasonally. Consider the following methods.

  • Juicing
  • Fasting
  • Food-based Diet
  • Using Supplements or Cleansing Products
  • Herbal Tonics and Tea
  • Colon Cleanses
  • Fasting
  • Sauna

Many people combine a food-based diet with herbal teas and saunas. Some people believe sweating helps eliminate waste from our bodies, which is why we use a sauna.

As the season gets underway, get outdoors, breathe in the fresh, clean air, soak in the sun’s rays, and move your body. It’s been a long rough winter for many; let’s move into spring, the season of hope.
